daveb, I messured mine yesterday, and they are 3 inches wide front and back. I hope this helps. My plates are desinged to clamp on, but I guess you could bolt through them. The problem with bolting through is that the van walls are very weak and will crack, this is why I went the way I did.

Eli

I know I'm a little late but was wondering if I could still get a set of brackets.

Thanks
Gary

Re: SMB's solution for awning cracks

+1 - Eli, I'd love to buy a set of your brackets. If they're all gone and you're not planning on another run, perhaps you'd share your measurements with us?

Cheers!
Mike.

Re: SMB's solution for awning cracks

Eli,
Sent you a email today regarding all this, I would like a few pictures, I know I'm late to the game, but hopefully you can still help out us late comers
Keep up the good work and again can someone post some pictures of the brackets on or off either way would be really helpful.
Cheers

Re: SMB's solution for awning cracks

Folks,

I have three complete sets left, one of which is spoken for by mjeffreys.

Adventurerider, if you go through the whole post, you will see pics of my van (sliver) as well as others that have used the brakets. Some have been slightly modified.

After this batch runs out, I can have more made, but I need the intrest to be there. It is a significant amount of dough to front. I am willing to do it if everyone wants them.

I have others that have expressed intrest ( jage, natank, angle, and maybe skywagon) and if you are serious, please post or PM.

Thanks

Eli

Re: SMB's solution for awning cracks

For those of you using Eli's brackets - where did you drill through into the case? I'd like to avoid drilling into the wrong spot, if possible

Thanks!
Mike.

Re: SMB's solution for awning cracks

Mike,

Place the awining on the brakets. There is a lip on the top of the Fiamma that the brakets fit into.

Open the awining all the way and support with the legs.

Drill the holes throught the awining case and the brakets, be carefull not to drill into your top

Insert bolt and lock washer.

Close the awining.

Hope that makes it easy to under stand.

Eli

Re: SMB's solution for awning cracks

Thanks Eli! That's exactly what I had ended up doing. Brackets are holding up perfectly so far, 1000 miles of sometimes bone-jarringly bumpy freeway in the last couple of days.

Now in Fresno and happy for the shade of an awning! Poptop going on today

I'll post pics when we get back in a week or two.

Cheers!
Mike
