Re: What work did you do on your SMB today?

Thanks-
I got a Fiamma awning with my van, but no brackets-
Will Call SMB.
Bill
P.S. I was just in the designing stages of a bracket, but might not need to re-invent the wheel!

Re: What work did you do on your SMB today?

Had a big day today: finished the installation of a neat stainless fridge in place of the noisy old Norcold. It's a new, scratch and dent Vitrifrigo I found on Ebay for a good price. Super quiet and works great, but required total rebuilding of the cabinet.

I also added a Xantrex battery monitor and added an extra outlet just for the inverter. The outlet on the left is for inverted power--the GFI is built into the Pure Sine inverter I bought.

Ciao
Tom

Removed my Blue Sky 2000 Solar Controller to send to SMBw to be checked out. The display is showing little to no current flowing to the batteries, and the red (Charging/Charged) LED sometimes isn't even lit.

Re: What work did you do on your SMB today?

It's an older version of this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/VITRIFRI ... enameZWDVW

Someone in Florida has a huge selection of Vitrifrigo fridges on Ebay these days: http://stores.shop.ebay.com/themarinest ... QQ_armrsZ1 I've never dealt with them though.

These are vastly superior to Norcolds.

Re: What work did you do on your SMB today?

Mrs. Deminimis broke a string on one of the day/night shades. She got, for free, a mass of string and instructions from SWC. I finally fixed it today. Easy peasy and I have lots of string left over (enough 2-3 or more shades should Mrs. Deminimis decided to break another....and she will, oh yes, she will).

Re: What work did you do on your SMB today?

The GelCoat on the penthouse has never looked as good as I think it should. So, I spent the day cleaning and refinishing it.

I used a product called PoliGlow:

http://www.poliglow.net/

I did some internet research, and this was the product more boat owners recommend. A couple of boating magazines tested it with good results. At $65 + shipping I sure hope so.

The idea is to clean the gelcoat with their special cleaner (smells like Simple Green) dry, and then apply 5-6 thin coats of this stuff. Then it shines like new (OK, better than new) and because the surface is so smooth, it is supposed to stay cleaner. Then twice a year you do two more coats to keep it looking great.

Well, it looks good for the first couple of hours. We will see in 6 months (Sep/Oct) how it does.

I also coated the endcaps on the awning, because they have always looked like crap. Much better now. And time will tell if it was worth the money and time.

Mike,

It sounds great, and please do let us know how it works in the long term. Just be careful if you walk on the PH roof. Shine + smooth = dangerous to walk on.

Re: What work did you do on your SMB today?

Mike ,
I have used this product on a number of my boats and found that if cleaned properly as suggested it truly does last a long time and I don't find that any of my boat deck's are any slipperier than they would normally be . The thing that I like the most about the PoliGlow is it's ability to keep the scum line on the hull to resist adhering , makes for a very easy clean up . And seems to keep the Gel Coat much brighter .Thank you for posting this as I never thought to use it on the Penthouse .

Re: What work did you do on your SMB today?

Be sure to check with SMB, If your top is white it is gel coat. If it colored it has been painted to match and is automotive paint. It should be treated and waxed as the rest of the van would be....
