Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

Again, a meager project in comparison to what you wrenches do, but it did give me some satisfaction to fix a burned out halogen lamp (just three months after purchase; made in China ). I was surprised to find out you can't just change the bulb. SMB West shipped a new lamp overnight. You gotta love these guys

Pried the puck out of its shell and let it dangle on the soldered switch wires in order to get at the lamp mounting screws on the inside underside of the lamp. The power leads run up through the overhead shelving unit where they are spliced into the 12V system. Simple cut, strip, and rewire job after that (if you remember which wire goes to ground or have a second lamp to look at). Didn't have the right size crimping sleeves on hand and had to use twist caps instead. It's not as pretty as I'd like, but it tested good.

Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

Not sure if this is the best place to post this, but....
Anyway, I just bought, and installed, a muffler for my Espar furnace.
Nice unit, all stainless steel and includes two stainless clamps for
the inlet and outlet.

Here's a top view:

And a side view:

I got it from Greg at Lubrication Specialist, LLC for $55. He's the guy
to call if you have any questions on your Espar. Very knowledgeable,
good prices and fast shipping.

Well, the bottom line, did it work?? You betcha!!! When on high you
can still hear it, but nothing like the jet afterburner from before.
WAY quieter!! Once you lower the furnace from high, it's very quiet.
Great mod and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

New radio that has a USB input for my iPod. Now my Grateful Dead podcasts will be playable in full force.

Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

Replaced my house battery box, I only have lights and 12V plugs so it's just a automobile sized battery in a vented box behind the wheel well. Why do things always take twice as long as you think. Tomorrow I replace a quick disconnect clip, bushing and washers which had completely disappeared on some rough road somewhere and do an oil and filter change.

I will turn 50,000 miles this week!

You'll all love what I decided to do with MY SMB today....

KEEP IT. Screw it, I used to draw this van on napkins as a kid, laid awake designing it as an adult, not this massive beast will sneak me into the commute lane (gotta love Limo windows), save me a full hour each day, and leave me set up for adventure when the work day is done.

Anybody want a Dually? I know one of the diesels have got to go.
