Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

I just adjusted the springs on the top. Not as bad as I thought it would be, but not for the unskilled. I did not check with SUP on top. I adjusted 2 links.

Did you use a come-along?

I use a come-along and short 2x4's laying in the tracks in place of the helper springs for safety.

Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

I did. I had a 2x8 that was the perfect size to sit on the bed track. I used a jack and 6x6 to hold the top. I still need to test it with the SUP on top. I did not put anything in the tracks.

Started tearing down the D60 full floater I got from a salvage yard in preparation for a rear axle swap.

I barely know an axle from a crank shaft but my gut says there's something seriously wrong with that.

Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

I built this:

That goes here:

Secured with this:

To hold these:

And can swing out like this:

Looking like this from the back side:

Heading to Maze District in May and wood fires are prohibited, so going to bring my gas fire pit and didn't want to carry propane inside the van or re-plumb my on-board propane. Won't take the mtn bikes, so had this place to "plug in" another accessory! I still have to finish it up and make locations to attach straps to hold the tanks in place.

Fun day of cutting and welding!

Of course, now that I look at this, does anyone know if this is actually legal to carry propane tanks on the rear of a vehicle? They are up high so a normal car would go under them in event of a rear end collision.

I don't think you will ever have a problem with tailgaters again!

Nah, just a little rusty and odd looking without the hub. ARB locker is going in it today. I forgot to give some props to Ujoint and CarringB for the helpful beta and push in the right direction.

Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

Glad to hear it. In the picture that inner bearing race (?) looked rounded and warn.

Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

Is it legal to have those two propane tanks hanging off the back like that? Nice work on the fab job, but they look scary back there...
