Rear turn signal bulb

Last night on the way home driving my 2001 e250 I noticed I had fast blinking on the right turn signal indicator. I checked when I got home and sure enough the right rear turn signal bulb seem to be out. This morning I went and got a new bulb replaced it but it did not solve the problem! It's still blinking rapidly. What would be the next step in troubleshooting this issue?

Did you confirm the bulb you installed is working correctly?

Well.. not exactly, but I bought a two-pack and tried both of the new ones.

I know many people have issues when they change to LED bulbs... PULLED THIS OFF THE INTERNET JUST NOW:

NO LED BULB:
Your signal light’s bulb needs to be replaced.
You have a bad ground connection.
Your signal light may have weak voltage.
Your signal light’s connections may be loose or damaged.

LED BULB:
If your vehicle has LED lights, and you notice that your turn signals blink fast with those LED lights, then this could be the result have a lack of compatibility. If you have an older car, it can be hard for your car and the LED signal lights to be compatible. Sometimes, installing a resistor or relay in your vehicle can reduce this quick flashing with LED lights. Here are some other things you can do if you notice that your turn signal blinks fast with LED lights:

Fitting a new turn signal relay
Replacing the existing relay
Installing load resistors that copy the load demand of the original system
Selecting LED lights with a decoder and/or resistor already built inside

I recently had a similar problem on my 2003 E350. The front turn light was not on and the blinker flashed rapidly. Digging into the light I found the wiring harness had become disconnected--one of the hold tabs had broken. Connected it back (light worked just fine) and held the connector with a couple of zip-ties.

I'm having a similar issue after making the switch to LED lights. Right after the install, both left & right signals were fast, as if I had a burnt-out bulb. We were able to get the left side working properly by adding a resistor. Even though we added a resistor to the right side it continues to vary between normal speed and fast. It will sometimes work normally for several days, then act up for no apparent reason and then go back to normal. It will also fluctuate between fast & normal during the same turn signal engagement. It does not act like a short, and I can't make it happen. It seems to be completely random.
