Sounds like you might have a unidirectional Surepower (1314) unit, so it only combines when the start gets above voltage. So when you put the second charger on, it finally got above the sure power connect points, and the two systems combined. I would suspect that the Intellipower took over and confused the portable smart charger, voltage was now being controlled by Intellipower, so it stayed at 70% until you disconnected Shore power (Intellipower).

I would suspect that you will be just fine.

This is the first time the van has sat for so long. It would be handy to have the shore power charge the starting battery but basically we need to get out and camp!
