I remember back in the day we would pop the distributer cap, pull the rotor and put it in our pocket. That was the supreme alarm system back then.

My Bronco has a removable steering wheel, and even better, a manual transmission. That reduces the odds substantially.

That's an excellent deterrent. It would be kinda hard to steer with a pair of vice grips on the shaft.

How about immobile instead? Perhaps a hole in the linkage with a pin and lock, and a matching hole in the engine cover that it seats in?

Ahhhh you just gave me a thought….What about this, Timberline made my transfer case shifter handle 2 piece to be able to unscrew it out of the way for ease of swiveling the drivers seat. So put the transfer case in Neutral and then unscrew the lever, and lock it in the floor locker.

In this case, you would be relying solely on your parking brake to keep the van from rolling away.

That and the wheel chocks would be plenty if the primary concern is parking in a bad area or you’re away from the van for the day in a remote area. If you’re that worried everyday everywhere then that would really suck.
