Is that a 4" lift with 35" tires? Looks great. I am curious as to the re gearing question also. Your van proably came with 4.10 gearing which is what Sportsmobile likes to spec out. Going to 35" (or so) tires will change the gear ratio of the overall drive system. Some say this can affect the transmission shifts, speedometer, etc. For instance, our van started with a 4.10 gear ratio and even with 34" tires we were advised to regear to a 4.56 (or something there abouts) to bring it back to the original 4.10. Good luck with the rest of the conversion. oclv

No 4" lift,.... just 35in tires with the new 2008 Ford SMB 4WD suspension...
There is no question that the 35 in tires will change how speed and RPMs intersect, but we are not too worried. If you see us around, you will likely comment that we drive like "Granny".... owning a Prius and an Insight have taught us how to drive more gently and eek out ever MPG we can get. We get 54mpg in town and 60 to 69 on the highway in the Prius. We plan to baby the SMB and see what we can get out of it too. yea yea we know it will be horrible, but thats ok too.

Your final drive ratio with 4.10 gears and 35" tires will be similar to a 3.55 rear with stock 245/75R16 tires.

Stopped by SMB TX today and actually was able to get behind the wheel and start McBeast,.....sure sounds sweet! ...but I am not sure that really helped my ablity to be patient and wait for delivery.
We also checked the rear bumper box; a Honda 2000 generator fits nicely in the bottom section. I will go by later this week with a Jerry can and make sure that they will fit in the top section.
We also went over the interior layout and verified some other interior details so that work can start soon.

Does your switch layout leave room for expansion or have extra (unused) switches?

Jage,
Good Point... yes, we left a spot next to the ARb Front Locker switch for a rear locker, and we left a spot for another set of overhead lights. We did not leave a spot for a set of lights on the bumper, but I think we will be ok.
