Roof Rack ideas

Hey All, Iím building a 2014 Econoline low roof passenger van and Iím gathering ideas for my roof rack. I plan to install 2x100 watt solar panels or maybe one bigger panel and I also want to install a ARB type awning. Iíve installed a Maxx Air fan and solar entry on the roof behind front seat area so the panels need to reside in the rear area. I donít think I need a full on Aluminess or Ujoint rack but maybe something for the rear area. Iíve looked at the Van Tech H3 rack in black and they seem good, any experience with Van tech H3 (about$300.)? What about the Yakima and Thule rain gutter brackets with bar set ups? Anyone built a rack using 80/20 if so what mounts? Iíve also thought about flat solar panels. Any positive experiences or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks Steve

I put this in the wrong topic. Can you move to Home builds?

stevigee -- many comments re flat "glued" solar panels summarize it as "not the best" plan. I'd consider trying roof mount gutter brackets from "1der" - that you could attach 80/20 channel to - allowing some sliding/moving back and forth functionality for alignment - lightweight and easy to work with - with tools you may already have. Send a pm to "1der" and/or check out his web site to see of he has the mounting/gutter brackets ?
