Flip-down monitors

This is more of a rant, but it seems that all flip-down monitors still only have RCA input... of course that is because most double-din navigation receivers only have RCA output. This is ridiculous that they are still using an analog 480p cable. Nothing looks worse to me than a LCD driven by an analog source.

Has anyone seen a flip-down monitor (for watching movies in the back) with HDMI input?

Flip-down monitors

I agree completely but can't answer your question. May be something to ask the RV guys on the Open Roads Forum? They have a great electronics/tech forum.

Re: Flip-down monitors

I'm sure this is one reason why you don't see more HDMI connectors.

Quote:
HDMI Licensing charge manufactures an annual fee of US$10,000 (less for manufacturers making less than 10,000 units per year) plus a royalty fee of $0.15 per unit, reduced to $0.05 if the HDMI logo is used, and to $0.04 if HDCP is implemented. The royalty is chargeable per unit sold to the public, so that equipment incorporating or supplied with HDMI cables, integrated circuits, and so on attracts only a single royalty fee; but each HDMI cable or other item sold directly to the public pays a royalty.
I'll bet RCA jacks are royalty free.

How about built-in DVD?

Re: Flip-down monitors

this has one mounted on the bottom, not perfect but it does have HDMI input. It says for Phone input
http://www.qualitymobilevideo.com/zfd23whdmi.aspx. Most of the flip down monitors are made for inbuilt DVD systems, that do not support HD.
