Yes, The Thule Crossroad will definitely fit on the Aluminess Bars. All you need is the Crossroad package (4 in on box i think) and Thule cross bars.

Thanks. Sounds great. I'm an REI member so I think I'll go check it out.

Re: Looking for quality cargo box or bag ideas

Ray,
Do you know the dimensions of your box?
I cant find the Thule Cascade 1100 Box on their site.
They have one that is 76x31x16.4 (Thule 604 ascent)
Wondering how much that will hold though.
We have 79 " between solar panel and rear of basket so
there's not a lot of choices without getting out the BFH.

Re: Looking for quality cargo box or bag ideas

I also am looking for a cargo box. It needs to be aprox square to go on top of my cruiser top in back. I will have Aluminess make a rack for it. It needs to be like the ones you see on big RV's. I can only find Thulea and yakaima which no longer make what I need. It needs to open in the back, not on the side. I can not find anything with google. Help

I have had a Thule Box for my Rodeo and it has stood up to trips to Baja. I agree with all the good things said about it.

Off topic: coming across the border into the us, it was never checked--I could have had a person in it.

Angle, have you looked into truck boxes or trailer boxes? The other thing is job boxes. The one thing is all of these are probably steel and heavy. Have you asked Aluminess about making the box to your specifications too?

Re: Looking for quality cargo box or bag ideas

We have the large Yakima cargo carrier box and really like the space and it's relative "security".

Just make sure that all 3 latches are secure before driving, or else:

It didn't even break.

Aluminess is the way to go IMO. They made two custom size Aluminum lockable boxes and fit them to their rack for me. Made to order, didn’t even disturb the solar, still mounts right to the top of the box.

I concure
My upper rack is open to carry MY needs
(rear designed to hold firewood and inflatable kayak)

Huge rear box for Yamaha generator plus stuff

Dual ladders so i can access all

If i needed "long storage"
(skis or such, i would still get aluminess)

Large Yakama/Thule = @$600
Large "delux" Aluminess = @ $675

yes you can craigs list a cargo box
but see above pic.....

What do you guys do with all the weight that is in the stuff in the box? Do you have power tops or are you younger than I am. I have a manual penthouse and find that I have to figure out some way to reduce weight before I can lift the penthouse .

Electric lift. I generally keep only lighter items up there and I usually don't put more than 100lbs up there.
