In the mad rush to finish this van, I didn't get as many good pictures as I would have liked so these will have to do...
The bumper turned out awesome!
In the design phase, the three tier stainless countertop layout was a really cool idea...but in practice, it was actually really difficult to pull off. The angled front compartment/door/latch was a trick too.
The side window latches are still accessible
Panel fit was tight
The bed platform is huge with tons of storage along the driver side. There is a slide out seat under the bed surface (not for use while driving) and under the seat are two giant storage compartments
In the rear are two large drawers that slide out 48".
There are many notable items going on here but two things that might not be obvious...
-Laser'd/CNC formed aluminum can be done with pretty tight tolerances but it is near insanity that over the 11' length of the driver side cabinet (made up of more than a dozen parts with soooo many screws), none of the holes were out of alignment. Major kudos to the press brake operator and his ability to hold all of the tolerances! (side note...and a little advice to anyone out there designing sheetmetal... talk to the laser and press brake operator about design rules and machine parameters. I spend a lot of time talking to the guys who are making my parts so I can learn what their challenges are with my designs. Working with the shop making my parts for almost 12 years, we've dialed in our communication of my design intent and their process/tooling parameters.)
-All of the electronics, including the lithium battery, solar controller, fuse panel, etc... are all located under the angle panel behind the driver seat.
