Re: Anyone (DIY) install a high top ?

my wife and i are having a fiberine 24" installed on our express rb. There was a ford in the shop (van specialties in portland) that had the top on it, looked nice, like this picture from fiberine site.

Re: Anyone (DIY) install a high top ?

Thanks for the additional info.

Does anyone know if tops for pre-1992 vans will fit 1992+ vans?

How about other makes? The fiberine site says they use the same top for ford, chev & dodge. Are the van rooflines really all exactly the same? Or does the top require a bit of trimming and you trim it different for each van?

For example, will a 1984 Dodge top fit an '89 ford van, or 95 ford van? If they are ALL interchangeable, that would be fantastic news, but it seems highly unlikely. Obviously the length will have to be correct.

Also, totally random question, but as long as i sound like a 4 year old with a million questions, were there more than 2 body lengths (RB, EB) in the '80s Fords? Seems like i've seen 3 different lengths, but it may just be the point of view in the photos.

Re: Anyone (DIY) install a high top ?

Discount Truck/Van/Rv web site lists separate models of high top for different years of each manufacturer, so it appears that the tops are NOT interchangable.

Yes there were. The shorty was about 24" shorter than the RB.

Re: Anyone (DIY) install a high top ?

You could get flange styles to fit from different makes/models of vans by fitting the flange or making your own. The reverse flange style would not work do to the molded flange shaped to each top.
