A while back, I found a couple different switches from the F-series trucks that have the extra pull-on switch for fog lights... They have the same plug as the van. Same circuit board too... just a few extra parts on it.

stock van switch on the left, new truck switch on the right with extra fog light feature.

Anyways... After a while it started to bug me that the LEDs inside of it are a different color than my dash lights.

So I pulled the switch apart to see if anything could be done. Sure enough, just some simple LEDs on a circuit board.

I hopped online to my favorite electronics site, found some green LEDs and today replaced the old with the new.

Now it's all better.

Now to wire in some fog lights, I just need a positive lead for the indicator light and a couple more wires for the relay. The crimp terminals for the connector are readily available on mouser.com.

Great idea! I plan on doing the same upgrade to my Fiesta. For anybody else thinking about doing this...My work F150 had the same switch, but with green backlighting.

I don't know how many different part numbers there are for these switches but it must be a lot... I have three different versions and all have blue LEDs. Obviously I'd prefer not to change LEDs but its not like it was difficult.

Yeah that would bug me even in my sleep.

What's your favorite site for these replacment LED's? I need some that are micro small for a DIY upfitter switch panel I'm trying to incorporate into a single DIN aftermarket radio mounting bracket. Superbrightled's and Lighthouse LED's are all too large.

Nice change!

So, those LED's apear to be surface mount. How the heck did you solder them on the board? Oh yea, still got those mirrors? I'm headed your way again in a couple weeks and could pick them up

Having been in the motherboard assembly business, I have a little experience hand-soldering tiny components.

Mirrors are spoken for but I have some seats that need a home. complete with mounts, ready to bolt in.

Are you going to make a run of new set bases when you make the ones for your new seats.

Have a chance to purchase some leather seats and don't want to have the owner holding them if I can not get the bases

Thanks
