Brent

When you wake up from your siesta can you fill us in on the results of your transmission line leak? What was the fix?

Curious minds want to know.

Thanks

Re: Van Build about to start....

No fix yet. I bought a new set of lines and the person I took it to could not get the old lines off. Apparently the 15 of so line adapters they had did not work. They did a temp fix on it and moved the lines off the pipes. The came out/off some brackets that are designed to maintain spacing. Spoke with QuadVan and they told me they put a special bracket on for this issue. Somehow it came off. Plan to have it fixed next week by the dealer.

5 minute video of a desert run...

Took a half day trip out to the Plaster City area in Imperial County on Saturday. Friend of mine came along with his Series 100 and trailer he is building up. Although we only hit mild roads it was more comfortable than I thought it would be.

Video at below link and photos at the one below that.

Interior update...

With a change of plans and a crazy work schedule I have not had time to do much to the van until this last week. Putting a few things in the van temporarily to check out placement and spacing. Just put the fridge, couch and Propex heater in this week. When I say I or we I really mean my dad is doing most of the work. Kind of a father son project but mostly father.

Everything is loose and will have basic cabinets built around it once we are happy with placement and function. The Isotherm fridge has been working great and seems to draw what it stated it would. If I did it over again I think I would just go with a top load Engel etc. Propex heater was finished up today and works great. It throws a huge amount of heat compared to the heater in my last RV.

Threw in a porta potti and makeshift shower for the Desert gathering a few weeks ago and they worked out fine but will do a more substantial build as time permits. Just these few additions have increased my enjoyment of it as a daily driver already

Floor, walls, and roof installation is next.

Then sink, stove and water down the other side.

Winter weather testing the Propex Heater.

Took the van to the local mountains to test out the Propex heater. I was curious to see how it would perform without any insulation in the van. Well, it did not go so well. It was 30 or so outside and the wind was blowing 30-50 all night with heavy snow. Still had a great time creating a small cocoon area above the bed to trap as much heat as possible. Used all my photography backdrops and 10 clips to drape the cloth as tight as possible around the fold out couch. That brought the temp up to about 65-70 in the small area. The heater itself worked great and I am sure once I put some insulation in it will make a huge difference. The inside temp is not that big a deal to me but when my Lady comes along it's needs to get in the 65-70 range or she is not coming along.

Litte video of the drive home yesterday below.

http://youtu.be/jV17JakXWXg

Installed the battery and Magnum mm1212 Charger/inverter yesterday. Works great but there is a loud hum when under any load. Going to check with the company this am to see if this is normal for this model. If so I may return this one. I have a 3000 watt pure sine wave Xantrex I use for my photo biz that does not make any noise. To big to use in the van but interesting that it does not make any noise.

Pics coming soon.
