Re: This is getting ugly
That is one NEKED lookin engine. Congrats for keeping your positive attitude. Lesser individuals would be squirting tears in their beer by now.

Re: This is getting ugly
Just wondering if we could get the name of the Ford Dealer for future reference - guess you won't know for sure about the quality of their work until you have some miles under the belt with all the work done, but looks like they are doing a quality job and at least have experience with pulling a 6.0l out the front.
I have a tiny oil leak, about 1 teaspoon drips for only a couple of days, then stops if SMB isn't driven - pretty sure it is the bed plate. A year ago I took it to Courtesy Ford here and they said that it was a bed plate leak and only way to access the engine was to lift the whole body off the frame - told them to forget it!

Most of the dealers usually pull the body off the frame... That is how it was designed to pull the motor, same as the trucks...Out the front is the hard way but it might be that it would depend on what options and modifications your van has from Sportsmobile or how hard it would be to disconect anything that would hinder lifting the body off...I would not be afraid of either way as long as the dealer has done the job on a van before.

Re: This is getting ugly, I mean better!
Seeing the engine like that makes me wonder if you could install an Amsoil dual remote oil filter setup from a pickup and eliminate the oil tubes over the side of the engine to the filter.
Hmmmmmm. My mind says that is easier than the adaptor that SMB uses to replace the stock oil filter housing for the dual filter setup.

Re: This is getting ugly, I mean better!
Jeffrey,
Is this at a regular Ford dealership? It's really clean. I am also surprised they let you in the back to take pics. I use the Ford Truck Center here in Salinas which does nothing but diesels ... but it sure ain't that clean. Fortunately, I have only had the regular service work done ... which has been satisfactory, and reasonably priced, as well as timely, to date. The regular Ford "car"dealereship shop here in Salinas is pretty useless ... just my opinion, of course.

Re: This is getting ugly, I mean better!
Salivan, I am very fortunate that my local dealer is taking care of me so well, and allowing me to interface daily with the diesel tech doing the work. He has completed all the Ford training and certification programs for diesel and is meticulous. He inspects every part closely, and he has experience with the aftermarket parts we added. He has replaced every little part that has ever been a problem in other engines. He keeps his work area clean and organized. That's how I am with projects. He is greatly helping my attitude, too
