I have no doubt that SMB has multiple ways they build these things, so I expect the slide out version and the jack-knife version exist. My reason for thinking it to be the jack-knife version come down to that it pretty much looked like mine with out the jack-knife hardware. The key attributes are the for studs coming from the back cushion with wingnuts. That is how the cushion is attached to Jackknife back. The bottom cushion also has two studs on the front. These also attach to the existing frame via a couple of holes. Both of these would be somewhat difficult to have access to, via the door panel in the from of the gaucho.

I have never seen the described slide out versions in action, so I can not comment on how those items would work in that design. Sold the SMB a couple of years ago, and can't take new pictures, and haven't found any old pictures that show it. It was a side mounted gaucho
