Better late than never

Before I bought my ARB canopy, I was told by several people to just upgrade to the Fiamma, but I got the ARB instead. Well, they were right, and I finally got a Fiamma. It’s a huge improvement, thanks to Ray (1der) for hooking me up. His brackets work great, and the canopy fit right on. I should have done this years ago.

After using a Fiamma on a van I was selling, I quickly swapped it onto the van I was keeping. I then bought one for the next build. I don't think people understand how nice it is to deploy/stow compared to the cheaper ones without actually dealing with the 'manual' types.

With yours mounted that far forward can you attach the forward leg to the van? Does the awning interfere with opening the front door?

The leg brackets on an Econoline are a bit problematic. The front leg bracket pretty much has to mount on the passenger door or onto a slider / running board. Utilizing the leg brackets still interferes with the operation of the passenger door.

I have never installed the leg brackets on our rigs but have done so on Sprinters since they have an exposed B Pillar. They are a nice feature, if used, as they really lock in the foot at the bottom of the leg but also create a diagonal interference walking under the awning.

On a Pop Top Econoline the B Pillar is going to be the forward mounting location as there is no other spot to get a solid mounting point. The forward end of the awning will project forward of the B Pillar mount approx 10 inches.

I should have kept the on on my SMB but I was too lazy to switch it. My mistake...
