Fresno isn't just down the street for alot of us.
What someone should do is open up a a LA/OC sales office/showroom. I believe Alan started out in SD with such a format.

Now that you mention that, I've seen a lot of used vans there but they are ones being worked on I think. Seems most of the dealing for used vehicles is done by phone and shown on the website. I would think that it's possible that the 3 locations do their own thing and have different rules though. It's possible SMBW could have a vehicle on site for repair/detailing while being listed for sale. I would venture to guess that it's a space issue with SMB west. Having to maintain and/or purchase property to house used vans would be expensive plus they'd have to be responsible for them.

^i think they can afford it considering they're taking $1500 upfront to list it for you on the World Wide Web.

Sure, space is one issue, but I'll be liability is the driving consideration. What happens if it gets stolen either from their lot or while on a test drive, who takes responsibility when the rig is on a test drive if there's an accident, who decides who gets to test drive a rig? I would also think that the city and state, in their zeal for tax dollars, would want to reclassify their business as a car dealership.

I agree Herb Jacko, not to mention SMB really wants you to purchase a new vehicle. I'll admit that if I saw a vehicle like yours sitting for sale at SMB, I would have been drawn towards it when comparing the price of a new vehicle. I knew that no matter what, even a new vehicle is gonna have problems. It was one reason I bought from Fresno....it only about an hour away. Seeing a vehicle close to what I wanted would have made it hard to justify the price of a new one.

Interestingly, if you check for used vans on the SMB website all the Indiana and California ones are with the owners; all the Texas vans are at the SMB facility.
I know the three sites are independent businesses and set there own business practices, but you would think they would be more consistent.

Me thinks Jage might be missing out on a business opportunity.

$1500 list fee, plus travel (I fly out bring your SMB to Denver), ferry serious buyers in from DIA, carry insurance but at the same time require owner to maintain both plates and insurance throughout. Maintenance and system monitoring throughout (e.g. winterizing water system)... I can see it: picking up potential buyers curbside in their potentially new-to-them SMB (because it doesn't fit in the lot!) it would be easy to spot in the line of cars, no doubt.
