How about it, does anybody want to start a "Fuel Economy/ Maintenance & Repair, Cost per Mile" thread? I'm guessing not many keep accurate enough records to make it meaningful though.

It should be easy to gather your records and get that data. I'll bet we get some responses. Even if you just used averages it shouldn't be too far off.
1. Miles driven since purchase.
2. Avg price per gallon since purchase.
3. Avg. MPG since purchase.
4. Cost of routine service times frequency of service.
5. Exclude things like warrany work, tires, custom add ons etc.

Maybe the topic should be, "How much does it cost you to operate your SMB per mile?" and base it on fuel and service costs only.

I just finished a 1650 mile trip; 5 passengers & camp & canoe food & gear for 10 days from San Diego to Moab. A hitch rack w/ 100+ lbs and bulky bags on the roof rack so even worse aerodynamics than the average brick. Probably right at the 10K lbs. rating and usually at 70 - 75 mph. 14.0 mpg I guess it is finally breaking in a little @ 55K! No complaints on that for this trip.

Just took delivery of our van and got 14.7 mpg on the 200 mile trip home. Flat with no wind, 65 mph. I'm very pleased since it has a 24" high top!

I just made it to Seattle and back from Portland on one tank. 405 miles 27 gallons. I got 17.5 picking up the van from Colorado springs. That was pre quad van conversion. Now I get around 14.5. 15 on this trip was going 70 the whole way on cruise. Gotta love the I-5 slog.
