I don't think the 6.0 diesel is back as it doesn't meet current emission standards and isn't used in any other current Ford vehicle. Ford was able to use the remaining 6.0 engines by paying a penalty (passed on to consumers by raising the price of the diesel option). Last I heard it was over $7K more than the base 5.4 liter gas engine.
SMB must have found a way to corral the last of the diesels out there. Notice all of the new vans SMB is set to obtain in 2011 are 2010 model year. These have likely either been in dealer stock or were purposely built as 2010s to avoid emission regulations.
As a side note, I was at a local Ford dealer this weekend as my turbo needs cleaning (or replacement) and noticed the new 6.7 liter diesel is an $7,835 option. New F350 and F450 diesel trucks were $60-70K depending on options.... Almost makes an SMB seem like a bargain.
