New to me 08 chevy awd

Hi All

Recently picked up a black chevy awd cargo van. Gotta figure out what to do with it. Been using it for the beach, great for surf boards dogs and lots of sand. I have a dual sport and my son has a quad. They both fit inside so it makes it a dream to head out and do some riding.

Was in Fresno today and stopped at the sportsmobile store, holy cow......

what to do?????

I'm thinking port window for jump seat in the back.

Get the cieling, floors and walls upholstered and insulated. Super easy to clean.

Add an inverter for easy charging of batteries ect.

Swivel passenger seat.

New bumpers.

Rear under storage area.

Mount spare to rear door.

No picture sorry trying to resize it and cant get it figured out on the mac...yet

Cargo rack on top.

Any other ideas from you experts?

To me (and, it seems, daveb) a penthouse top would be first on the list. If I did nothing else, it would have a penthouse top. I can stand up to dress or change clothes or just to move about. I can sleep up above with plenty of ventilation. It functions as a standard top when down.

All the other amenities I could deal with on a portable basis - same as tent camping. But, the top is needed.

the top didnt really get me that excited. I wont be sleeping up there and wont be building out a kitchen so it didnt seem that critical to be able to stand.hmmmmm

i am going to have to reconsider......

If you like to tent camp and love that feeling you have in the morning with the bird song and the wind coming through the mesh sides and the sun peaking through then you'll want a penthouse top. The penthouse top gives me that feeling even while sleeping on a cot on the van floor. It's like the best of both worlds.
Being able to stand straight up when you want to change cloths is pretty cool too.

Re: New to me 08 chevy awd

I second or third or whatever, all the votes for the penthouse top. Being stuck in the van during bad weather, rain or whatever, it's so nice to be able to stand up and move around without bending over. And when camping by myself, when the top is up, I have extra storage space on the back 1/3 of the bed.

go for the penthouse top!

Water/shower would be high on my list, especially for a beach vehicle.

The PH top is good for keeping cool too- nothing like having 80% of the top of your van open screens.

Also, check out the DIY section- lot of good stuff going on there.
