Re: Seeking RV Insurance for 4WD New SMB
I don't understand that at ALL! I just insured mine through progressive, via USAA. On the other hand, my USAA loan folks didn't know what it was, refused to consider it an RV, and gave me the money as a "Car Loan", Go figure.

I wonder how they justify the amount vs. listed value? That seems to be the stumbling block for most people.

What model was your wrecked van ?
I just called AAA yesterday here in FL, and they said they didn't cover any (Ford) bigger than an E-150.
Does anybody have a rider for replacement cost?
Any other good insurance leads, anybody?
Thank you in advance,

From the "before", it looks like an HD2500 which I believe is chevy speak for 3/4 ton or E250. I can't believe they wouldn't cover an F350, but maybe cargo vans are different due to fleet use or something. Maybe they just don't do "big" trucks. Anyway verify the don't cover RVs, and it's not a cargo van thing vs. chassis size.
Last time I called Farmers they told me they don't insure RVs anymore. Go figure. Progressive won't cover a trailer, except a pittance of $500.
I have "agreed value" on the SMB with Progressive, the value I pay for is the value of the rig, but nowhere near new.

Re: Seeking RV Insurance for 4WD New SMB
I use GMAC which is Good's Sam's VIP insurance company. Today I compared my coverage with Allstate and found that
they could match my policy in coverage, and the price was over $900.00 (almost three times what I pay at GMAC.
You may want to check them out. Do not use them for emergency road service. Buy the Good Sam's emergency road
service direct form Good Sam or try Allstate's emergency road service policy. It is less epensive than Good Sam's and
appears to have all the same features.

Flyfishinggal is one of several of us that has found GMAC ( Good Sam's ) to be a tailor-made insurance provider . I am
seriously considering switching all of our vehicles over to them .

A variation on the theme: what do people call their rigs for their insurance policies? Is 2012 Sportsmobile enough or do your policies' require more four a name?

Re: Seeking RV Insurance for 4WD New SMB
Right, USAA does not offer RV insurance, but they team up with Progressive. I got excellent coverage for about $ 850 per year with full replacement and personal property replacement up to $5,000.

Re: Seeking RV Insurance for 4WD New SMB
USAA member living in California using Progressive as of Feb. 2012. I've got full coverage plus replacement value for $519 yr. Call Jennifer: 800-289-7708 option 8, ext. 3744501. According to Jennifer, if you choose Progressive and you're not a USAA member, you can get full replacement cost but you will need a certified appraisal. New California law?
