One ton on your roof? Seriously? Wow. What the heck are you putting up there, and on what kind of rack?

Re: Who did your pop top? Are you happy with it?
Another good point though. I use my roof as storage anytime somebody is with me. PH tops are lower and easier to put stuff on top of compared to a Voyager with a rack. An electric top can raise about 275lbs of gear. I have two 135 glass solar panels, an Aluminess rack, lights all the way around, and a Yakima pod which isn't a problem lifting that weight. I usually empty the pod prior to lifting depending on what is in there.

Fully rigged and loaded gear-rafts usually, plus all the luggage for the vans without roof racks. Sometimes its just week worths of food for 50 with tables and kitchen gear. It's a Weather-Guard Safari Rack.

Re: Who did your pop top? Are you happy with it?
SMB Fresno manual penthouse in my '12 Ford. It's been a bitch putting up and down from day one. (I'm 165lbs and can crank 25 pull-ups so I'm no shrinking violet). The PH has since been deduced as being installed misaligned. Left side it slightly forward of right side so it binds like a mofo. $600 in custom booster springs and it still goes up and down way crooked due to the binding. Under the material the covers the mechanism you can clearly see where they cut the sheet metal of my van. The cuts are jagged, wavy, not finished, and in general look like $h!t. It was obvious whoever did it was in a hurry and didn't give a F. There's a thread about my debacle with them around here somewhere. If my conversion wasn't completed and near impossible to redo the PH I'd pay $10k to anyone other than SMB to do it over.

Re: Who did your pop top? Are you happy with it?
Sportmobile West did a new top with electric motors for us in October, 2012. I thought I had developed a leak in our original 2004 top and since we wanted an electric top, we bit the bullit and did everything at once because of the pricing schedule which made sense to do a new top and add motors at the same time. Turned out the top didn't leak and the leak was actually from a seam in the body between the rain gutter and the windshield. They did a great job, and I have been very happy with my dealings with SMB West.
