Re: Looking for a pull utility trailer

Very cool pictures of those trailers. I am looking forward to the build out on my trailer. I'll of course post pictures as things get completed. I figured this is a good foundation.

Re: Looking for a pull utility trailer

I just love the look of matching rims on the van and trailer.

Good luck bshillam!

Tips on wiring
I was thinking about wiring in power from the seven pin from the van to a relay. That way I can expand my pull behind add a battery, inverter, usb port, maybe a radio, etc. Anyhow, I am in uncharted territory and wanted to bounce some ideas off. I was looking at Amazon and found a seven pin that I would lead to my relay and than wire in the lights from there. Thoughts?
http://www.amazon.com/Conntek-10110-...=ATVPDKIKX0DER Four feet doesn't seem like enough, have you just wired it yourself with harness wire to relay than to lights and whatever else? Thanks for the feedback.

Re: Looking for a pull utility trailer

Also in addition to the trailer wiring which I think I'll run a seven pin to a relay even if I don't use the 12v right away it will give me room to expand.

On another note, I took all the ply off, scraped the rails but I was thinking a sand blasting might be in order. When building your trailer did you sand blast or used a sanding wheel, paper, and scraper?

Re: Looking for a pull utility trailer

So far I pulled all wire, lights, plug and ply. All new ply, epoxy coated, top coated with enamel and new stainless hardware. All new wires and lights. I am working on building a top this week to make it weather tight. Here's a picture not a good shot of the trailer but you get the point.

Re: Looking for a pull utility trailer

Interesting thread, does anyone know of any manufacturers of a mid-sized (~5x10x6, 6x12x6), enclosed, off-road capable trailer; that might be modified for power and backup quarters ?

thanks,
s

Re: Looking for a pull utility trailer

Thanks Bronc,

Cute, but that's why the gods revealed poptops to the van mfg.'s,
to prevent hunchback.
I hope/expect to find just the HD chassis with enclosure, and then have do any power/accommodations mods myself.

Re: Looking for a pull utility trailer

2009 Schutt M1102 Cargo Trailer

I've looked at these. The bed is to small to accept a 4x8 sheet of construction material,
and $1500.00 won't even be accepted as an initial bid.

Probably going to have to find an independent custom fabricator and go for a new-build, to get a useable chassis with an enclosure...

From what I've been reading, there would definitely be a good market for a rough-road cargo trailer, if there's an entrepreneur out there somewhere

Re: Looking for a pull utility trailer

Only thing I've ever seen with hard sides & stand up room is something like one of these:

Not a cargo trailer
