Arctictraveller, how many miles on your van? approx how many off road miles. I know there are a ton of leaf spring vans out there but how many see much off road time (not counting a dirt road)?
Another thing to consider is the fact a fully loaded SMB can easily weigh in at 10,000. The van is loaded to it's max design 24/7 that has to factor in there some where.

The van is currently sitting at 215,000 miles. Off road miles are hard to say but there has been lots of them and plenty of hard ones at that. The good news is that I’ve now put on about 5000 miles since the weld repairs and there is zero evidence of the cracks reappearing. Fingers crossed that it’s fixed for good if I can avoid any further huge hits like the last one that sent me to a chiropractor. Since the last spine buster I’ve added urethane bump stops that really soften the hit when the suspension bottoms out. 035 mig wire for the win…..
