Re: Central Ca October 2009 Meet.

For those who don't have a copy of the Backcountry Adventures book by Peter Massey and Jeanne Wilson, I was surprised to find it viewable on line.

My suggestion for the group run on Saturday starts here, The Dinkey Trimmer Road which drops into Pine Flat reservoir. There should be some nice fall colors.

Then over and back up the Sawmill Flat Road. It has some fantastic ridge views.

The side road that the 4x4’s can take is Granite Gorge but the others can finish out the Sawmill Rd and we can meet at Wishon.

The 4x4 trail I would like to take Friday is Bald Mountain which is class 5 by the books standard. It’s only slightly difficult but technical enough to keep up interest.

These are only suggestions.

Re: Central Ca October 2009 Meet.

The Dinkey Trimmer road is the first trail in the [edit] (northern cal) book. I noticed the page number on the website book page is different than the actual book.

Anyone needing detailed maps of the area can download them from this link:
http://idisk.mac.com/charliesikes-Public

They are PDF files of Topo maps for each of the trail runs on the board. The average size is 10mb so it might take awhile to download if you are on dial-up.

Thinking about attending. However my wife and I are Novice off-road, overlanders. We usually go coastal camping and have no experience boondocking. We don't want to hinder the group.
