Thank you so much, I'm getting maps out and planning my next trip in a few weeks . I love that type of country northeast Utah, Southern Wyoming and your great state of Montana. Having been born and raised in Los Angeles I have a deep appreciation of the American west.
Again thank you HIGHCOUNTRY Mike

For a dispersed camping spot, check out Vedauwoo, itís National Forest between Cheyenne and Laramie. We were there last week and were pleasantly surprise weíd never been there before especially since itís so close. Enjoyed hiking, rock scrambling and bushwhacking. Thereís Curt Gowdy state park near by on Granite Springs reservoir for lake fishing.

Glad to hear folks are getting out. I intend to stay home till the fall if I can stand it. My plan to travel to Newfoundland this summer has been delayed till next year, so I've kept busy by working on the van making lots of changes. Currently, it's so torn apart that I couldn't go anywhere even if I wanted, but that's fine for now. Hopefully, by fall this virus thing will have died down, so I'm currently planning on a bunch of winter trips. I actually prefer winter for the reduced crowds, empty camp sites and the mountain snow. I expect I'll start in the Southern deserts exploring more ghost town and mine ruins. From there, who knows? Any ideas?

I just returned from Flaming Gorge Rec area and Green River (fishing). In my SMB I was able to drive there with out any people to people contact . No casinos open made Las Vegas like a modern day ghost town. I was surprised at the number of people at Dutch John Utah. I did hear that Wyoming & Montana were closed to non-resident fishing so they (fishing people) ended up at DJ.
I'm a big fan of the interior of Nevada. So many beautiful north/south valleys.
Example: 1) Starting at Tonopha you can go north to Belmont & Manhattan diry roads to Highway 50.
2) Austin (0n 50) there are several roads going north to Beawawe & Carlin on I-80.
Numerous roads going up the mountains to small desert streams for camping.
3) East on 80 to Deeth area north thru O'Neil Basin to Jarbidge, NV Being a desert rat I love that type of country....very isolated.
P.S. we had a flat (second of the day in Grass valley, NV and waited 8 hours before another vehicle came by. that's part of the draw.
There are ghost towns along the way..several of which only grave yards are remaining.
Hope this can help pass you down time.

Hey AT, do you have a route planned for Newfoundland?

We are planning to go to Ontario to visit my folks in June 2021, we may go further east as well. If timing works we would be happy to have a travel buddy.

I know you've done a lot of trips, what did you budget for fuel expenses for the Newfoundland trip? Do you remember what you spent when you did the island trip or when you did BCOR and back with 7oaks?

Actually, I don't have any route yet. Ted (Gravel Travel Canada - Home) has a mostly off road route called the TCAT (trans Canada adventure route) that crosses the whole country from Vancouver island to Newfoundland, and I expect I'll try to do some or all of it, then drop down to the US for the trip West, or perhaps doing it the the other direction, I need to look into the weather as I assume there will be many passes, some of which may be snowed in earlier in the spring. I don't really budget for fuel since no matter what I spend, it's always much less expensive than if I had to stay in hotels, not to mention most places we go don't have hotels. If I feel like I'm spending too much, I just hold up for a few days in some scenic place. I did just come off a 10 week 7000 mile trip down South, and I think I spent somewhere in the neighbor hood of $2000usd. So, it would be great to meet up and put in some miles together and I'm totally open to any adventurous route.

Sounds good AT. Keep me posted on your plans next year, it seems a long way off but heck 2020 seems to have by pretty quick already.
