Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

I'm leaving for a canoe trip with friends on the St Mary's River (between GA & FL) on Friday and just realized that I needed longer roof rack bars. It's tough securing two tandem canoes (36" wide each) on the 66" bars that came on my new-to-me SMB. I tracked down a pair of 78" bars tonight and went to install them in place of the 66" ones.

Installed Aluminess front and rear bumpers, galley box and ladder. Also installed Hella lights front and rear. And installed Bushwhacker fender flares and Wilson cell phone booster.

I had him make a set for me off of recomendations on the forum. Quick turnaround and looked nice. I went with 2" aluminum.

Van looks great, I'm sure you're enjoying the added ground clearance. Hope to meet up out there again sometime. We are looking at doing a pacific northwest and cali coast trip this summer. Maybe see some of you along the way. I know we will be in Seattle for the 4th.

Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

Rick:

My wife and I were going to take two weeks and do the California coast in May, but the price of gas is just too prohibitive for that right now. I just returned today from San Clemente, CA, where I had my bumpers put on and it cost $120 in gas one-way from there to Vegas. That's crazy! So, instead, we are going to do our usual beach camping for a week in May at So Carlsbad State Beach in California. Maybe next year we will do the coast trip. Have fun on your trip. You may have to rob a few banks along the way to pay for your gas.

Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

Sorry Rob! I didn't even think about it while I was sitting in my hotel room at the Holiday Inn downtown. I didn't get a rental car this time so I just hung around the hotel after walking around town three or four times. I had to sit in the lobby for five hours since they wouldn't give me a late checkout. Now I'm going to have to make a special trip down there for some free Thai food. Maybe we can connect when we're at Carlsbad Beach the first week of May.

Paul: Sorry, I don't know the kind of CB antenna that is on my rig. It's the $19.95 kind one buys at a truck stop.
