Re: What work did you do on your SMB today?
Changed the Radiator coolant overflow hose from the radiator to the overflow coolant container.
It was a B*tch since I had to remove the battery with all the wiring, blue tape all the wiring exposed and battery terminals just in case, pull the battery, pull the battery tray then finally pulling the overflow coolant reservoir.
The coolant overflow reservoir hose runs about 4 feet from the radiator cap down into near the frame and then up again to the coolant container. It's a heater type hose and not a fuel line hose; apparenly Kr*gen, Aut*zone didn't have it but Napa did.
On Diesels, there is actually two hoses.. found that out from the dealer. No sir, it's a 7.5L not a 7.3L. By the way, the dealer didn't have it; imprevised part.
What prompted the change was I saw coolant leaking from the frame down to ground after a long trip and thinking it might be the water pump starting to go (weeping). But for now it looks like it's the overflow hose getting worn out where it rubs against an access hole!
There's been other cases where the overflow coolant container gets brittle and develops a leak also..

Re: What work did you do on your SMB today?
I've never really liked the awning legs on the ground. So, I mounted the Fiamma mounts to the van. Now, the entire awning is attached to the van, and the wind cannot lift the awning.
It isn't any easier to put it out, but it is more stable.
I know this is useless without pictures - maybe tomorrow.

Re: What work did you do on your SMB today?
Tapped the Aluminess back up lights with the reverse lights and cleaned up all the wires. Also repositioned the back up camera. Since the purchase of the Aluminess rear bumper and Box, I could not see anything while backing up (Since the old camera's position was on the passenger window sill) now I can see again!

Re: What work did you do on your SMB today?
Removed, repaired, and replaced driver's side awning window, since the gear had stripped out so the window would not close tight. SMB sent me a new gear box for free. (I asked them to send me one expecting to pay for it. Nice!) It took quite a while to remove the lights under the upper shelf, remove the window trim, and figure out how to get to all the screws around the frame of the window. By pulling out the drawers (RB50 plan) I could just reach the bottom screws. Darn glad to figure that out too, as it looked like I was gonna have to remove the whole cabinet there for a while...

Pictures of awning leg brackets
Mounted the brackets for the awning legs to the body of the van. Now the awning is more stable (won't blow around in the wind) and off the ground.

Front bracket
Rear bracket
Bracket with leg locked in place

Re: What work did you do on your SMB today?
Bill ,
Call SportsMobile and have Jonathan or Peter send you a set as they come with every Fiamma Awning and are not utilized in the conversion of the Vans . Another source that has heavier duty brackets is fiammausa.com model name = Wall Bracket Alu Pro part # 98655-728 . These are essentially the same as the bracket's that are included with the awning , but heavier duty . I have both and either one is substantial enough for a secure mounting .
