That's awesome. Did the Keebler elves have to unplug their mixer so you could plug in?

I've seen some questionable power poles at hookups and never used a surge protector or any of the smart ideas shared in this thread but that kind of beats all.

Nevertheless, looks like a great spot. I'd camp there.

I really like the Soviet brutalist architecture they used in their picnic tables there at the Russian River, complete with concrete and cinder blocks.

Probably to prevent floating away when it floods.

Thanks for that. At this point I'm still debating a AC vs DC air conditioner. If i go with AC air conditioner then for sure I will get a soft starter because i too would want it to start on a single Honda 2000.

It probably depends on the surge itself. I've had several customers knocked out of power by lightning who have had surge protectors burn due to the hit. In many cases the actual strike distance from the home(s) effected can be longer away than some might think. In one case, the customer's curtain caught fire. The strike was over a mile away. And it's almost always a surge protector similar to those in a power strip. Not sure about a dedicated RV surge protector. But yes they can burn up...it's just rare. Lightning is weird and does strange things, but in most cases I'd think you'd be better off using a good RV high end RV model designed for RV life.
