Ravelco install in Southern California

Hello!

I recently picked up a Ravelco online(one of the deeply discounted but not counterfit) and am looking for advice on the install. I'm not all that comfortable doing it myself so I'm looking for someone to install it for me.

Any advice on what type of shop might do this for me? Alarm/stereo shop? Auto mechanic?

Thanks!

Brian

Hopefully there will be a Forum member knowledgable on install near your area - payment maybe a case of beer or two ? Just my opinion here - but I'm guessing a "shop" might be hesitant to install due to liability ? Good luck --

There are already quite a few Ravelco threads here so there's plenty of information about them in general, some include a users DIY installation. Is this a task you'd consider doing yourself?

For the most part if you're seeking to hire this job out and its NOT by an "authorized" Ravelco installer you're facing a pretty big hurdle. IF you're adept working with automotive wiring, can read schematics you can DIY but it would require a few semi-specialized wiring tools.

Finding a trust-worthy shop not motivated purely by making a buck will be difficult to find as this does require a good amount of automotive wiring knowledge and experience to do the job correctly and more importantly reliably. Liability would certainly be a consideration the smarter shops would make I'm sure.

Search through this site for Ravelo installations, read them and maybe come back with questions.

I'll second what JWA said:

So for BrianBlair, or anyone else contemplating this and seeing this thread, we just had our Ravelco installed by an authorized installer, it took 2 hours, he did a great job, and even after seeing it done and the installer explaining it to me, I would not attempt it on my own.

I'm reasonably handy, have done a few stereo installs, remodeled bathrooms, etc. still wouldn't do it on my own.

A lotta opportunity to make mistakes and the consequence are your truck won't run after the install; right away or maybe a year down the road.

Anyway, my perhaps too cautious opinion, I hope it's more helpful than annoying.

Best to all, Em -

Thanks!

I’m fortunate to have a very generous, incredibly knowledgeable forum member close by who installed the Ravelco for me yesterday. It went really well and took about 2.5 hours. I wasn’t able to help much as I recently had shoulder surgery but I definitely learned a bit just from watching!

Thanks again to the forum member I’ll leave nameless lest he be bombarded with requests for help.

That's great---glad to know you got this done with success!

Smart of you to leave him nameless as I have a question concerning how I could remove the Central Junction Box to access the ignition switch starter wire on the backside of it!
