Re: Interior Fans?

exhaustive testing ... nice pun! I have the Breeze one and, when I have used it, it worked well. I put it in the front window of the penthouse ... with the top up, of course..

I can't use an AC fan w/o putting a higher draw to my batteries compared to what my endless breeze pulls. My inverter pulls about 3 amps just to invert and by the time I add a AC fan I'd probably be pulling around 7+ amps. It doesn't seem like much, and my batteries can handle it, but a continous draw like that adds up when other stuff is being used. If Vornado made a 12v model it would probably be a very well made fan.

Re: Interior Fans?

Quick and rough measurements on the meter showed my inverter is drawing about an amp to invert. 300ma or so on standby.

Turning the fan and inverter on showed about 3.5 amp draw with the fan on high.

Re: Interior Fans?

After a camping trip in the SMB to Virginia this weekend where the inside of the van was 15 degrees hotter than outside at night (the rain made us keep the windows closed), buying a 12v fan was high on my list. At a Flying J truckstop on the way home I found a "RoadPro" 12v fan with 10" blades for $25. I haven't been able to try it yet while camping, but a short test shows that it seems to put out a good bit of air. It has two speeds and is reasonably quiet. The box claims a current draw of 500mA, and a review I read on Amazon seems to confirm that. (See http://www.amazon.com/RoadPro-RP73002-B ... B001JT77K2)

So, for $25, I figured I'd take a chance.

I like the look and features of that one from West Marine. I may pick one of those up!

I like everything about it except the price.

Guess I'll have to go and test drive one to see how quiet it is.

Re: Interior Fans?

How quiet the fans are is one of the big issues for me. At home I love some white noise while sleeping at night, but while camping in the SMB I don't like it so much as it makes me less aware of what is going on outside the van. Not so big of a deal in an established campground, but if stealth camping or staying in a remote NFS or BLM campsite I kinda like to have an ear to the ground, so to speak.
