Re: THE DOOR TALON. A better way to secure your side door

How do you guys hold open the forward barn door? The one closest to the front doors?

Never had a problem with it. It just stays open.
If it gets windy enough to move it, you want it closed anyway.

Unless someone has disconnected the door stop, then it swings free.

I've got a chevy express van so might be different. Thinking I'll probably just get a long bungy and hook onto the front wheel well or side mirror.

Add me to the list of very satisfied customers of the Door Talon!

Honestly I don't know how John is making any profit from them---the packaging and instructions alone probably cost what he charges for the whole thing.

Just one of the best and simple devices with easy installation clearly detailed---can't go wrong with one!

Re: THE DOOR TALON. A better way to secure your side door

I ordered up a Door Talon last week & received it very quickly. I installed it this morning & it took me about an hour including reading the instructions & getting tools ready. The hardest part of the whole process was getting around the felt SMB installed inside the door cutout. I was able to install the main bolt for the Talon without cutting anything but for the retention bolt I needed to enlarge an existing hole in the felt by a half inch or so.

The unit itself is very well done & all of the hardware was perfect. The instructions are thorough with plenty of photos to go along with them. I'm pretty happy with my install & there is just a slight bit of tension on the hook when engaged. In a perfect world I'd have the bolt moved a millimeter or so further back to get slightly more tension. I can always add something to the inside lip of the fender to add tension but I think it will be fine as is. Here are a couple of pics of mine installed:

Thanks to John for providing these!

As another satisfied customer I can't say too often what a great idea and creation this is!

Amazingly simple, very well made and the instructions are almost fool proof. Almost because as the old saying goes: "nothing is really fool proof because fools are so ingenious!"

Honestly though this just can't be beat for what it does!
