I really enjoyed following your progress (couldn't really keep up though, too quick for me) and the final result.
Quick question for you or anyone else who's been there. Do you think your hot water system could benefit from a small insulated hot water holding tank?
I just started building/designing my water system and was thinking to incorporate such a tank. I'll start a proper thread not to high jack but thought it might benefit everyone...
Well done!

Hi Abitibi
Thanks for the compliment but I have seen some other REALLY nice builds on here.
The way I have my system set up, and the way I plan on using it, I don't think it would be beneficial, "to me".
The closed system loop I have consists of less than 5' of 3/4" heater hose plus the heat exchanger itself. It's volume is less than 1 gallon that the water heater has to heat up and it does it very fast. The system hasn't been through a lot of trials yet but I did run 5 gallons through the shower head a couple of times and it stayed hotter than I could have handled it if I was taking a shower both times. I had to turn the mixing valve more toward the cold side for it to be comfortable enough to keep my hand in it.
If you'd like to be able to just turn on a valve and get a glass of hot water at any time, yes, a holding tank would make sense. I don't see that as something I would need on a regular basis. If I happen to take a shower near dinner time, I will probably run some very hot water into one of my tubs at that time so it will be available to do some dishes. But it wouldn't take long at all to get hot water if you just wanted to fire it up for that purpose only.
