Apologies for slighting a member here----I did see something quite similar on the FTE site and made the wrong assumption. At any rate its a great idea to hide a double DIN head unit---nice work!

Ahhh so we're talking about features and options huh?

Metallic brown, same metal dash, steering wheel from a ship, NO A/C, 283 motor with PowerGlide 2 speed automatic transmission---ya know all the really great stuff! Single speaker AM push button radio with vacuum tubes no less---can't forget that.

Of course it had four different sized tires, mostly 14" IIRC---tread was a luxury I couldn't afford at the time. Drove that thing about 2 months before the transmission gave way---had it towed away to the scrap yard and they gave me $7.50 for it---tow bill was $15!

Despite all those missteps I still learned a ton about what NOT to miss next vehicle purchase. Learning to wrench on our own stuff gives a unique and irreplaceable perspective on how things work, at least mechanical things that tends to serve us well long, long after we're no longer forced to do it out of financial necessity.

Good walk down memory lane!

Re: intro/build thread and our poorboy attempt at a camperva

I'm the one who posted the thread about making the fake faceplate. It's over in the electronics section. (JWA, I also posted a link to this in the FTE forums, so you are correct, too.)

@shenrie, if you get a chance, maybe you could add your faceplate picture to my faceplate thread to show additional ways to do it.

Looks like you need to add a leaf to the rear pack.

Oh, and fender flares.

Re: intro/build thread and our poorboy attempt at a camperva

^^^ gah, not soon enough. heading to teton pass this weekend for some riding, and weekend after that, shop owner where work will be completed will be in cali for a class. so im still a few weeks out...which is pure freaking hell.

in the meantime, we fabbed up some swaybar spacers to bring front sway down as per ramseys recommondations. should have the new front bushings anyday. new ones for back in pic

ill post more pix once bushings get in and everything is installed.

also had my wiper washer pump die on me or something. it ran all the way out...or so i thought, so i filled it up and it would only sputter. i removed the cowls thinking it had crap in the bottom of the tank and the nozzels got plugged, but after removing the hose from each nozzle, i still couldnt get any juice out of them. the pump still makes noise, but no fluids. anyone got any ideas? ill spend some time searching around the forum see if anyone else has had same issues. hell i dont even know where the tank is. appears to be under the battery though.
