The StarCool "shares" freon from the chassis/front compressor - if the "overall" freon level is very low - it could burn up your chassis/front compressor - which "might" affect your St/Cool - as the St/Cool would not run properly - "not enough freon" and THAT compressor could fail as well ?

Just a suggestion - when posting about SMB AC's - which have the St/Cool - best to call the "front" AC - the chassis AC -- and the "rear" AC/St/Cool the "house" AC - that way members have a better understand of what system you're having problems with - just as a suggestion. Good luck and hope it "gets going" again !

@artictraveller This is super helpful thank you!
I've just been told my compressor is bad by my mechanic, he went through the wiring and said he can here it trying to start and fail.
but I'm going to go back and ask if he tested the capacitor
