So I've replaced the seal on my Thetford 4 toilet because it's not holding water. I bought two replacement rings from Amazon. Neither one of them worked. In fact, it leaks worse than ever! So, I am looking at replacing the toilet. Trouble is the Thetford 5 is either 12 inches tall (can buy a 2 inch riser) or 18.5 inches tall. I need a taller toilet but the 18.5 inch will block the medicine cabinet door behind the toilet. Has anyone run into this? Can I replace the toilet with a different brand? Any help would be appreciated.
There are at least a couple of porti-potti manufacturers and each have several models. You didn't include the max hight of the toilet you're looking for, but a quick search for Thetfords shows they have a 16 1/2" model and a 17 1/4" model. You should be able to either find one that is close "enough" or build a simple stand to raise the 12" model to whatever height you need.
