Installing Factory Keypad

I've had this a long time, but couldn't find my other factory keyfob. It's not necessary to have all of them to program, but any that are absent will no longer work, and once you attach the keypad to the van it is a little more difficult to reprogram without help.

Programming is exactly as stated in the instructions:

Re: Installing Factory Keypad

It is a nice addition to the van. We can go swimming, shower, whatever and not have to take the key with us.

Our keypad is semi hidden inside the rear license plate recess. Like Geoff did:

Re: Installing Factory Keypad

I purchased & installed mine about a month ago and it seemed to work fine. Now it seems to work intermittently. When it was working, a little light illuminated when I pressed the numbers, and now it doesn't light up or lights up only once in a while. Too bad I can't trust it and not sure I can get my money back - maybe the battery was shot to begin with.

Re: Installing Factory Keypad

I recall somebody opened their remote keypad and replaced the battery. Can't find the post right now, but it is possible.

Maybe somebody will find and post the link.

Re: Installing Factory Keypad

Some Googling turned up the attached document. I did find a lot of people stating it was difficult to do w/o damaging the unit of the membrane. I would also use some cloth barrier so you don't accidentally scratch the paint with a screwdriver. Might be better off removing the entire unit before attempting the battery replacement.

BTW, the attached was taken from a website I came across. No personal experience with the process.

Got mine off eBay (search on the Ford p/n), but Ford dealers have them as well. Do some searching to find a reasonable price though.

There's another thread or two on this forum with the p/n and a few sources.

On page 5 of this thread:

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1165&start=60

you will find the p/n and a couple ideas on where to buy one.
