Crazy, he's a talented fella. Is he still at it?

I have a set sitting in storage at Van Specialties waiting for this day! No one wants to do these steps. I am also very interested and need to come over to the shop still!

Interested

Definitely interested. I have a set of “H2” I believe?
With the large brackets from van specialties if I remember correctly. But would love to see if your mounting solution will work for what I’ve already purchased.

Dunno if he's retired or not, but it appears that his kid Bernard is following dad's footsteps.....making all kinds of truck accessories.

Amp mountain bikes were really big around here back in the 90s......they were quite innovative for the time....brings back memories.

My GF bought a used B4 with the linkage fork from someone who worked at Amp in the mid 90's and it came with a pile of extras, some marked "Ranjeet" for one of the Grewal brothers, the other two being Rishsi and Alexi.

I had no idea this was the same Horst. AMP bikes crushed it. Oh the early days with John Tomac and crew. I think he did stuff back in On Any Sunday days. Mg is the new Horst!

Over the past 4+ decades I have traveled in remote areas prepared for one bad thing or another to happen. One of those things is sliding into a rock or log along the trail. Not sure how much these steps cost but I suspect destroying one could be pricy. Ten or so years ago I bought a set of tube type step rails (wife was stressing her low back stepping up and into the van). They look generic but should be sturdy enough to provide some protection for the lower part of the doors and the metal underneath them. Fortunately, the mounting hardware made them very easy to install and I paid less than $300 for the pair. So far, no rust, step pads are still in place and I have not done anything to mar the surface or bend them...but there are many more trails we have not explored. Upside is that wife's back no longer bothers her.
