Watching your project with total envy; 1. for all the stuff you are doing and the vehicle you'll have once complete, 2. for your skills. My project is similar but moving much slower and will never be a comparable vehicle. Rock on!

After you finish this showpiece are you going to be able to live with ever getting it dirty?

It's not being built to sit in my driveway. If it doesn't have a gazillion miles on it before I die, I've failed life.

Now that SMB's are part of my life, I think it's time to commission a new cross stich.

The gods do not subtract from man's allotted time the hours spent SMBing...

What do you think?

Kind of a big day today... I finished welding up the engine mounts and took a load of fab'd parts to the powdercoater for finishing. That means final assembly is near!! While I'm waiting on those parts, under-body prep will commence as will paint touch up on the frame. I love the final assembly stage! It means that I'm almost done spending money!!

I refinished the 55 gallon tank this week too. Stripped it bare, cleaned it thoroughly inside, then repainted and assembled.

I've got all my parts back from powdercoating. In not too distant future, the engine and trans can go in the frame for the last time. Woo hoo!

Almost all prepped for the Lizard Skin weekend too. The whole bottom side and wheel wells have been scuffed for surface prep. Tomorrow I'll finish off the "overspray mitigation plan" (plastic sheeting around the base of the van) and then one last wash/dry cycle to the underside before spraying on the first of many coats of material. Let's hope it goes on well. I have it all planned out to finish and then head to the beach with the fam so it can dry without me watching it.

Once this is out of the way, I can really start cranking on final assembly. The finish line is close, I can sense it!

All holes currently in the van will still be holes after I'm done.
