Re: What did you do to your SMB today?
Geoff ,
I had installed the www.ravelco.com We have had a rash of break in's / truck thefts in our area recently and after
some research found this unit on the Forum and AAA Club . I thought about the tracking type but remembered a previous experience with LoJack that found my vehicle (stripped) a few hours after the theft , my thinking is why give the thief's any time to get the vehicle away to do their dirty work . They were very professional and nice to deal with
and they installed the device very cleanly at my home in about 2 hours time . The 2 Plug Caps and French Key Rings are a lot smaller than they appear on their web site and fits conveniently on one's existing key ring and in your pocket .

Mounted some Quick Fist clamps and finally got my Max Ax, multi-purpose tool installed. Used some 1/4 bolts with nylock nuts.

Re: What did you do to your SMB today?
Finished up the last steps of bike rack setup for next week's Moab and White Rim trip. Today it was lock cores for the bike mounts and reflectors on the rack (thanks for the inspiration, billwilson). This followed disassembly, custom rack fabrication by a local fab shop, powder coating by another local, re-assembly, and installation of the necessary bottle opener on the side of the box. Adventure, here we come!
Here are some photos of the finished result. I also have the Hollywood hitch mount set up for a third bike, but I plan to take it off for the White Rim road.

Re: What did you do to your SMB today?
Well, that rack looks familiar right down to the bottle opener location.
Very nicely done! You did what I was originally going to do, that is modify the existing swing arm instead of having an entire new one built. I like the curves in the upper support vs my straight ones.
Have fun in Moab!

Re: What did you do to your SMB today?
Well, umm, there may have been a little bit of inspiration from your setup! When the shop initially tacked the thing together, it actually looked more like yours and would have easily handled three bikes. I just felt it stuck out too far. I was worried about possibly backing into a tree - not that anything like this would every happen*. So, we decided on the second curve and went for two bikes. Even now I probably could still fit three bikes up there with fork mounts. With the upright mounts I can only get two.
* Admission of guilt - just after I added the custom light bar to the Hollywood hitch mount rack last summer, I backed into a stump with it. If you look closely, you may be able to see that the right side of the stainless light bar is bent up slightly. I'm a little more careful now when I back up...

I think that with all that reflector tape on there, it'll give those trees plenty of warning to stay out of the way!!

Re: What did you do to your SMB today?
I was actually thinking more of avoiding it with my head after a few beers in camp.
