Re: What work did you do on your SMB today?

I had Aluminess build a new deluxe box for me with a rack on top and boy do I like it . I originally had the Galley Box with a rack and the difference in the two is like day and night .I am able to free up a large area in the storage compartment as well as load trip specific items more readily . I was concerned when I ordered the SportsMobile that the Deluxe Box would further impair my rear view vision but have not noticed much of a difference .

Re: What work did you do on your SMB today?

Finally got around to changing the fuel filter. What a P.I.T.A!!! I had to remove the dog house to get to a few hoses that needed to be removed as well. And I had to remove some stupid wiring harness right above the filter. It took a little figuring out but should go quicker next time....

Also changed the Amsoil filters...

Yesterday: Took off the front rotors, replaced the seals and repacked the bearings. Also, greased the front end checked the fluid in the differentials and transfer case. Added about a half quart to the rear and a few pumps of oil in the front...

Took advantage of the Aluminess Sale and my wife bought me the rear bumper and a custom deluxe box!

Anyone in the market for a slightly used Aluminess tire rack?

Just making sure you guys were paying attention!

Actually, it was part of prepping the rig for our next trip.

Just curious...Where are you heading Adventureduo?

By the way, here's what I did to the SMB today:

Took the SMB to the muffler shop to fix a hole in the exhaust. And went shopping today and loaded the cupboards for our next trip. We are stocked up...

Re: What work did you do on your SMB today?

Ford Reciver hitch. A freind had an old Bronco class V hitch and it almost fit my 02 Ford van. The frame mounts were perfect but the whole thing was 3 1/2" too narrow. The sides bolted on so I unbolted them and made 1 3/4" spacers for each side out of 1/4" wall 3x3 square tubing. It got welded and bolted it so it's stronger than stock. I did have to punch a few holes in the frame but for a couple hours work I saved about 300 bucks. The thing tucked up perfect under my step bumper. The bigest difference in the hiches I've seen is the frame mount. On the Ford you need all the frame mounts to be parallel.
