Made a minor tweak to the Webasto AirTop 2000 STC installation.
Those of you with a MultiControl HD may know that there's a temp sensor on the controller (which strangely isn't used by the AirTop to control the temperature). If you read the manual, one can enable the Show Temperature feature from the Service menu to display the temp senor value in the status bar...but you need the diagnostic interface to do so.
Or not! While investigating what it would take to enter Service mode, I came across a boating blog that referenced a forum in German with a handy reference pic. After a quick Google Translate on the annotation in an image from the forum for confirmation, I had my answer.
Turns out that if you ground the 2nd pin from the left on the top side of the diagnostic connector as oriented in the pic shown below, the MultiControl HD will reboot with Service menu enabled. Note that you need to keep the pin grounded while operating the Service menu. I simply used a multimeter probe with the other end grounded to the vehicle using an alligator clip.
And presto! The temp sensor value is now displayed in the status bar. Easy peasy. (And yes, I work on my van at weird hours.)
