Re: What did you do to your SMB today?
I put my new bumper on. 31lbs lighter on the front end now, and an hour an a half later. Now if only I could do that with the spare tire around my waist! Spomo-1 started life as a 1998 2wd. A LOT of work is in the coming months as a total interior rebuild is about to start. When the plan is complete about all that will remain of original SMB will be the penthouse. That is a measure of the hard life this machine seems to have had. I put the bumper on to make myself feel better. Nothing like some major looking progress and a little beefy looks to get the adrenalin pumping for the labor ahead. Not that you all have never seen an Aluminess bumper before but here are before and after shots!

Nice!
What are you doing with the front receiver / bull bars? I wonder what it'd look like on the new-style front end Are the light covers/bars going off to the side integral, or removable?
Lots of Sportsmobiles in Kirkland, it seems. Saw a tan one driving past my work on 6th St South the other day.
Cheers,
Mike.

Re: What did you do to your SMB today?
The old one is up for grabs and I will put it up on here or on craigslist when I have cleaned it up a little. Its one complete unit unless you have a cutting torch.. I will likely put a front receiver back on under the Aluminess unit at some future dat. There is still plenty of room, may even see if Aluminess could fabricate something as one of my goals in the rebuild was to shed weight. I'm hoping to be 200-300lb lighter when I'm finished. I moved here in February so still checking things out only saw one other SMB so far.

I have seen two SMB's in Kirkland. One is bitburger (from this forum) tan newer grill style 09 and another I followed to the grocery store but was too chicken to introduce myself as he thought I was stalking him. It was a gray one with license plate 4x4SMB looked to be about 07. I live in Kirkland as well.

Re: What did you do to your SMB today?
Today I finished mounting the monitor for my backup camera and installed two switches and a 12v power outlet on the passenger side. The dash is a maze of brackets and variable thicknesses- I've been meaning to put the power outlet in and move my light switches to the dash almost since I got the van, and I never realized what a deceiving bit of engineering those smooth empty areas all over the dash are!

Is the coupler and gauge manifold a Viair part. Nice and compact!

Re: What did you do to your SMB today?
Today I washed the van, and using compressed air at my shop, blew half a ton of dust and dirt out or every surface, crack, and shelf. Then I washed the dash and everything up front. I just got back from a 6 day trip to Zion and Death Valley. Looks like new now!

Broke down all tires , checked balance and rotated . Checked all torque specs and had the Ravelco Engine Disabler installed .
